SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

 

Simulation Lab Instructor provides educational support by explaining concepts, demonstrating procedures, and ensuring that participants understand the objectives of each simulation. Simulation Lab Instructor helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Provides instruction and remedial laboratory activities and clinical simulation instruction.
  • Assists students in all simulation laboratory activities.
  • Prepares equipment, supplies and physical set-up and break-down for simulation laboratory and simulation activities with students.
  • Schedules and maintains remediation and open-lab hours for nursing students.
  • Assists faculty in scheduling simulation laboratory and simulation activities.
  • Assists in conducting the inventory of simulation laboratory equipment and supplies and assisting with the quality control of inventoried items.
  • Works with faculty to create, revise, and update simulation laboratory activities in coordination with curriculum objectives and goals.
  • Maintains standards of operation and implementation of all simulation laboratory activities as outlined for each activity.
  • Collaborates with the Simulator Laboratory Technician in preparing scenarios for simulation experiences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (A master’s degree in nursing is preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in nursing education/clinical nursing instruction, with the ability to create a supportive learning environment for students. Experience in simulation lab coordination.
  • Experience in working with both high and low-fidelity mannequins in a simulation environment is a plus.

  • KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  •  

  • Knowledge of relevant health professions principles, practices (patient safety, universal safety precautions, personal protective equipment etc.) and adult education theory.
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of simulation equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to effectively support and operate simulation equipment in a healthcare simulation center.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, including adult learning theory, to develop and deliver effective simulation-based training programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, learners, and technical support staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement simulation-based educational and training programs.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure that simulation equipment is functioning properly, data is accurately recorded, and simulation scenarios are executed as intended.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage simulation equipment, schedules, and data effectively using MS Office skills (MS Word, Excel).
  • Ability to utilize Audio-Visual equipment, proficiency in learning management platforms, and familiarity with student database systems.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

     

  • Work is normally performed in a typical teaching simulation laboratory environment.
  • Some physical effort required.
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
