SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTIONS: 

Ajman University seeks to appoint a highly dedicated Director of Strategic communications and Marketing reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Communication and Community Affairs.

The Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing is responsible for designing and implementing communications, marketing and recruitment plans, and for overseeing communication and marketing activities and initiatives to promote the University’s brand, reputation and identity in the United Arab Emirates and abroad. 

In fulfilling this role, the candidate will oversee and manage the units responsible for delivering the institution’s marketing and communication goals through storytelling, content development, media relations, brand campaigns and student recruitment activities. The Director will work closely with the University leadership to ensure execution of activities in support of the University’s priorities and will ensure that all activities are methodically monitored and evaluated for continuous improvement. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Designing a strategic and integrated approach, oriented towards consistency, creativity, and adherence to University’s mission, vision and strategic objectives.
  • Developing and delivering communication, marketing and recruitment plans that include communication activities, digital marketing, and student recruitment to support the university’s strategic plan.
  • Identifying potential internal and external communications strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; and ensuring prompt and proactive responses to current priorities and emerging issues.
  • Fostering a data-driven culture and embracing the use of data in decision-making, as well as implementing and using tools to measure and monitor the effectiveness of all communication efforts and track reach and engagement across various platforms.
  • Strengthen the existing connections and develop new relationships with schools and other stakeholders in the UAE and abroad in order to recruit a diverse pool of talented students.
  • Ensuring that recruitment activities are properly integrated within communications and marketing initiatives and campaigns and is seen as an integral part of the Office operations.
  • Building and maintaining strong and collaborative relationships with university leadership, deans and directors, alumni, students, faculty and staff to improve engagement with the Office activities.
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and relationship building across the University to ensure coordination and coherent and consistent strategies,
  • To coordinate, motivate and engage the team members and manage the budget, personnel and support activities assigned to the Office effectively and efficiently.
  • Actively undertaking stewardship of the institutional brand and reputation and promoting professional and strong relationship with external stakeholders.
  • Monitor staff performance and professional development.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE :

  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or another related field,
  • Minimum of five (5) years senior level management and/or supervisory experience with personnel and budget responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of principles of strategic planning, campaign development and implementation.
  • Understanding principles of strategic marketing plans for student recruitment and the formulation of personas.
  • Experience leading teams or units, coordinating complex projects and prioritizing multiple activities effectively, and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience in promoting internal and external collaboration,
  • Commitment to quality and excellence through evidence of continuing professional development.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : 

  • Master Degree in Public relations, Marketing, communications or related field.
  • Experience in a higher education work environment.
  • Bilingual: English and Arabic.
